In today's digital world, online advertising is a necessary ingredient for success for many businesses. Google Ads is one of the most powerful tools, but without proper optimisation, businesses can't use it to its full potential. Effective optimisation of Google Ads allows for a better return on investment (ROAS), greater reach to the target audience and, most importantly, better business results. In this article, we'll demonstrate the importance of regular optimisation of Google Ads campaigns, using the example of a long-standing client of ours, where we optimised all of their ads and delivered outstanding results.
Why is ad optimisation important?
Google Ads optimisation is a process of continuous improvement to ensure that your ads reach the right audience at the right time, while reducing your cost per click (CPC) and increasing conversions. If ads are not optimised regularly, businesses can quickly lose money due to ineffective keywords, poor ad copy or inappropriate landing pages.
Regular optimisation includes:
- Keyword research and updating: the right choice of keywords relevant to the target audience is the basis for a successful campaign.
Hint: add negative keywords to your keywords so that your ads only appear for relevant searches.
- Optimising individual ads: the ad must grab the user's attention and encourage them to take action.
Hint: include writing engaging ad messages and tailor your content to market trends and needs .
- Landing page optimisation: when a user clicks on an ad, the landing page must be user-friendly and make it easy for the user to buy.
Hint: do not make your online shop unfriendly to users, as conversion rates can drop drastically, no matter how successful your ads are.
- Weekly monitoring: to ensure that the campaign keeps pace with changes in the market and competition, it is necessary to regularly monitor trends, analyse results and adjust strategies if necessary.
Hint: social networks provide a way to monitor how your posts are performing against your competitors, and insights into Google advertising results provide a comparison of how your Google ads are performing against your competitors.
How optimisation delivered great results
Our client, for whom we regularly optimise Google Ads campaigns, has seen impressive results. The monthly advertising investment has remained the same as before. The current average ROAS (return on ad spend) for all active ads is 1087.45%, which means that for every euro invested in advertising, the company earns 10.87 euros. This represents an increase of 1041% compared to the same month last year. In addition, the number of impressions increased by 35.7k, which indicates that the ads are reaching a wider audience.
We also ran a one-week Back to School campaign for the client in September. During the campaign, we achieved the following concrete results:
- The ROAS was 2,499.95%.
- The ad received 1.51k clicks and 21.6k impressions.

Data from Google analytics confirms the success of the campaigns, as in August we reached 108.3% more people with our ads compared to the previous month, and visits to our online shop increased by 34.81%.

Comparison of monthly active ads compared to the same period in the previous year:

The increase in visits and purchases in the online shop is a testament to the successful optimisation of Google Ads campaigns. Compared to last year, the online shop recorded an increase of 18.94% in average visits, with visits from ads increasing by +64.35%. At the same time, there was a significant increase in the amount of purchases, which rose by +42.92% on average, with an even more significant increase of +142.18% for purchases made via ads.
These impressive results are supported by data from Google Analytics, which clearly shows the impact of the improvements and effective strategies we have implemented in our Google Ads campaigns.

What does successful Google Ads optimisation bring to businesses?
- Increased visibility and reach: optimised ads reach more users by appearing more targeted and relevant to the audience.
- Reduced cost-per-click (CPC): with more relevant keywords and better ad copy, companies can reduce their cost-per-click, which means more efficiency in their advertising budget.
- Higher conversion rates: when users click on an ad, it's crucial that they land on a user-friendly landing page that encourages them to take action. In the case of our client, an optimised online shop ensured a smooth purchase process, which further increased the success of the campaign.
- Competitive advantage: regular optimisation helps companies stay ahead of the competition. Based on insights from Google Insights, we have found that our client is ahead of the competition, with its ads appearing more often in higher positions.

Good advertising = long-term results
Optimising Google Ads is a key success factor in digital advertising. Regularly updating keywords, monitoring the competition, creating compelling ad copy and using optimised landing pages are all elements that have a significant impact on the success of a business. The example of our client, who achieved over 1,000% ROAS through optimisation, demonstrates the importance of accurate and regular monitoring and adjustment of campaigns. To succeed in the world of online advertising, it is not enough to just place ads, they need to be constantly improved and adapted. With the right optimisation strategy, businesses can harness the power of the Google Ads platform and deliver long-term results that exceed expectations.
